Heritage Plants.
Ancestral Connection.
About us
We are a seasonal plant nursery growing 100% open pollinated, mostly heirloom heritage plants. We open our nursery at the beginning of April each year for 8-10 weeks depending on availability. The rest of the year we spend growing out our favorite heritage varieties for seeds. All our our seeds can be purchased on our Seed Store. We also host Events sporadically throughout the farming season. Make sure to Subscribe for updates on next year’s nursery season and our 2026 Seed Release.
***Please note our nursery is located on an active livestock farm / private property. We do not accept visitors outside of set nursery hours. All of our events require pre-registration. Pleaase no walk-ups***
Fall Events!
Join us on our seed farm this Fall for one of our many events!
Kula means “family” or “ancestors” in Sanskrit.
At Kula Nursery we hope to honor and connect to our ancestors by growing, tending to, and eating heritage foods.
What are Heritage Foods?
Heritage foods are foods that play a vital role in cultural traditions, rituals, and/or cuisines. Although they have been passed down from generation to generation, these foods are becoming less available due to large-scale agriculture and other systemic reasons.
In many cases it is up to small scale farmers and gardeners to tend to these varieties and pass on the cultural importance of these foods to future generations.
Beyond just being a fruit, vegetable or herb, these foods each hold an important story of tradition, culture, and place.
